Ivan studied Music at Goldsmiths College and the Royal Academy of Music and has enjoyed a varied career as a performer, musical director and teacher. He has a strong interest in jazz and has accompanied and promoted such visiting jazz artists as Don Rendell, Harry Beckett, Peter King, Tina May and Alan Barnes. Ivan is widely sought after to perform with orchestras and bands throughout the Eastern Region. He was the Musical Director for Wisbech and March Operatic Societies and for in-house productions at Wisbech’s Angles Theatre, helping to produce over fifty shows between 1995 and 2007.

Ivan continues to write arrangements for his jazz trio and his close circle of jazz playing friends. In 2016 Ivan curated an exciting series of music nights at the Angles Theatre, found time to boost local orchestral double bass sections, and continued his appearances with the Lucy Cavendish Singers.
